Can I use a traditional (not flat) display with a mac mini.?

I have had an old windows pc for the last 3 years and am thinking about getting a mac. I have a budget of £500 so cannot afford a new flat screen monitor for it. Also do I need to have a USB keyboard and mouse?

you need a usb keyboard and a mouse but i think the mac mini has either any type of dvi or a vga connector or maby the mini adapters so any monitor with either a dvi lead or a vga would work
